HOOF Therapy

One of our goals at HOOF has always been to offer therapy to the elderly, at risk kids, and those who have suffered trauma (victims, Vets,  and more). Our dreams were met recently, HOOF has started working with victims of sex trafficking from STATUSA.  Our STATUSA guests spent a relaxing afternoon grooming our rabbits, goat, and pony. We served them tea afterwards and spent some time talking about their experience at the farm animal sanctuary:

“I wasn’t going to come today, but I’m glad I did. I really needed this. Thank you.”

“Thank you! This was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time!”

“I think I have a new goat friend!”

There is nothing like an animal loving you back! I believe it is one of the reasons God put animals on this earth: to give us comfort, love, and healing.

Animals can provide a sense of calm, comfort, or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation and toward one that provides pleasure. Advocates of animal-assisted therapy say that developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilize their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialization skills. – www.psychologytoday.com

We are able to do these therapy sessions at no cost because of our generous donors, our grantors, our volunteers, and our supporters. How you may ask? When HOOF is supported financially and provided with adequate help from volunteers, it frees us up to volunteer our time to those who need us most. Your support matters to more than just our animals. It matters to people who benefit from the love these animals give. Thank you, from all of us.
